B.C.A.A.S. MEETING MINUTES

April 10, 2008

Dave Brown called the meeting to order. He reminded us of the upcoming public star watch at Blue Marsh Lake, Dry Brooks area on Saturday, April 12.  Earth Day will be held on Sunday, April 20 from noon to 5 at Centre Park in Reading (rain date is April 27).  The Northeast Astronomy Forum, or NEAF, is April 26-27.

Dave also announced that John Dobson suffered some small strokes and is no longer allowed to travel.

Linda Sensenig reported a balance of $$$$$ plus our CD, which is now worth $$$$$.

It was noted that even though several of our members have been trained to run the Planetarium, we have yet to be contacted to do any shows. This brought up the question of whether we would have to pay for using the museum for our meetings.  The Flame Room is no longer available for meetings.

Barb announced that the Pa. Outdoor Lighting Council has invited any club member to attend the training workshop on outdoor lighting issues for Municipalities. The first will be held at Nolde Forest on April 29 starting at 7 pm. The next one will be May 29 at 7 pm, at Lower Macungie Township Community Center. For more information contact Barb, or check the POLC website at www.POLCouncil.org.

Our speaker tonight was Ron Kunkel, who discussed solar observing.

 Respectfully submitted

Barbara Geigle, Secretary
