B.C.A.A.S. General Meeting Minutes

December 12, 2002

The meeting was called to order by President Barry Shupp at 7:45 p.m. with 23 attendees.

Ron Kunkel announced that he posted ads on Astromart for the C11 and Unitron telescopes. The Unitron was listed at $3,250 plus shipping and the C11 was listed for $2,000 plus shipping. He already had several inquiries, with people interested in both scopes. Also, he was able to purchase the two 4 ½" Bushnell telescopes and one tripod for $225 from the remaining Pocono Mountain Optics inventory.

Treasurer Linda Sensenig reported a bank balance of $7,268.87. As club dues are now due, she will be sending colored slips in the next Pegasus.

Rick Carpenter sold his telescope and is donating the proceeds to the club. Chris Nichols purchased the scope, and will be making installment payments to the club.

Numerous people related their experiences sighting the Leonids.

Ryan Hannahoe listed the speakers for the coming year: Lloyd Adams, Dr. Ruth Daly, Dr. Dana Bachman, Inge Heyer, Pete Detterline, Ted Nichols, John Dobson and Dr. Lawrence Ramsey.

The election of officers was held. Ron Kunkel was elected President, Dave Brown was elected Vice President (by only 2 votes), Linda Sensenig was re-elected as Treasurer, and Barb Geigle was re-elected Secretary. After the election, Ron Kunkel stated that he would be observing at the Flying Field this weekend and invited members to join him. Comet Brewington is returning, and Jupiter’s moons are occulting/eclipsing each other. The meeting was adjourned at 8:15, followed by our annual holiday party with lots of treats.

Respectfully submitted,

Barbara Geigle, Secretary
