B.C.A.A.S. MEETING MINUTES
December 14, 2006
The meeting was called to order with 23 present. The shuttle launch was discussed. Several people were able to see the shuttle as it traveled up the coast. There will be a rocket launch this week from Wallops Island, Virginia, that should be visible from here. Several club members were quoted in the December 6 issue of the Reading Eagle regarding NASA’s plan to return to the moon. Bill Santiago works for the paper and can get an original format PDF copy of the article.
Dave Brown spoke with Mike Feyers about 3 weeks ago regarding our status with the museum. There would be a $500 annual fee to continue to meet there. They would like us to stay. They would even like to train someone from the club to do the planetarium shows. They would pay $25 per show. We could use this to offset the annual fee. We will have a Board meeting on January 4 to discuss our options. Dave will contact the Flame Room to see if we could have the Board meeting there. Linda will contact the Wyomissing Library to check into meeting there. Dave will also check with the new Exeter Library. Rick Carpenter said he would check with the Bird Club to see where they looked.
As there were no nominations other than the current officers, the slate of officers will remain the same for 2007. Dave announced that he submitted his resignation at his job, with Friday, April 13 being his last day of work. This will allow him to spend more time to devote to astronomy. Dave also noted that there will be an article in the paper about his new grain-fueled furnace.
Linda Sensenig noted she received the check for $150 from the Hamburg Area School District for Ron’s talks at Camp Conrad Weiser. There is $$$$ in the treasury. Also, she has 2 extra copies of the Astronomy 2007 calendar.
After the meeting, everyone enjoyed food and fun!
Respectfully submitted
